"You could go for a walk," Web suggests, distracted. "War's over, Joe. There's more to life than fighting and fucking."
He tenses. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"Things happen in war that wouldn't otherwise. Just think of it as a free pass."
"For a Harvard man," Joe says, stamping out the cigarette, "you sure are an idiot." He rips the diary out of Webster's hands and, as the other opens his mouth in protest, silences him with a kiss.
"Except when it is," Wilson replied philosophically, long beyond arguing about House's tendencies to steal his food.
"How often are the hoof beats actually zebras?"
"When you're on safari?" Wilson tried suggesting.
"Even then it could be wildebeests or water buffalo." House frowned. "The history didn't report any chronic symptoms."
"Everybody lies, remember?"
House's pager beeped - the patient was coding. He ignored it, grabbing another fry. "Even ANA screens, it seems."
"False positive is, what, less than one percent likely?"
"Our zebra, apparently, is really a unicorn."

Oz got back in his van and continued driving east, heading toward the Appalachian Mountains. Roadside attractions only served as a transparent distraction for going to West Virginia. He'd heard rumors of a man, there, who was like him. A man cursed but could control his changes, stayed human during the full moon.
He kept on driving, ignoring a lone hitchhiker he passed in the middle of nowhere in Missouri. It wouldn't be safe to pick him up, not with the moon getting larger every night. Oz could feel it deep within his bones even as clouds obscured the night sky.
No, he'd be alone, a lone wolf, until he was safe to be around. Only then would he go back, go home, and try to fix everything with Willow.
I can't resist.
So she'd been pleasantly surprised to get back to her house from an especially long day of changing oil and rotating tires to find Sawyer waiting in the kitchen with a bottle of wine.
Juliet let him lead her through the house, walking backwards as he unzipped her jumpsuit. "Where-?" she began, brow furrowed, when instead of turning to the bedroom they turned for the bathroom, instantly understanding when she saw the bath drawn, thick bubbles everywhere.
"Sorry it's nothing fancy," Sawyer said, watching her slip out of the rest of her clothes and slid into the tub.
The water was just the right temperature, and Juliet could feel the tension seeping out of her aching muscles. "No, it's fine. It'd be perfect if you joined me."
Sawyer grinned, not needing a second invitation.

Or the cockpit.
It wasn't in the engine room, either, even though Jayne had been sure he'd been wearing it when he helped move some extra parts in there for Kaylee.
The infirmary, also, proved to be a waste of time.
This left the cargo bay.
Jayne rummaged through the mule, finding an overripe apple but that was it. He was about to give up, figuring he'd left it planet-side, when he saw a bright flash of orange out of the corner of his eye. Looking up at the catwalk, he spotted River, fast asleep, his hat perched on her head.
He returned to his bunk, leaving her alone. At least now he knew where the gorram thing was.
