Prompt "sharp" for the drabble challenge at [livejournal.com profile] lostsquee.

Shannon
Sayid/Shannon
100 words

+++

The pain was instantaneous and sharp, a force surging through her body as Shannon fell, vaguely aware of collapsing into strong arms and being surrounded by Sayid's scent. She could feel tears wetting her cheeks...or maybe it was the rain. Shannon pulled her arm to her stomach, feeling the ragged edges of the wound and the startling warmth of her own blood.

She found herself wondering if there really was a heaven. As the world began to darken around her, and Sayid's mournful cries sounded farther and farther away, Shannon knew it wouldn't be long before she found out.

Oh hon, how gutwrenchingly sad! ;_: And lovely too. *still misses Shannon*

I miss Shannon, too. I was just starting to appreciate her and then they kill her. -_- What's up with that? "Sharp" is a difficult prompt to do anything that isn't angsty with, though, and I wanted a less literal approach with the prompt.

*ignores the fact that all of the ones she's written so far can be thought of as angsty*

Thanks so much, sweetie!

Now I feel bad that I depressed everyone.

Wow. I think you nearly had me in tears in 100 words. Lovely work, dear. :)

I guess it's a good thing I stopped at 100, then, or I'd have to hand out tissues. *hugs* Thanks, hun.

No, thank you. I'm glad you liked it even though it's like morbidly sad.

So sad :(

I like the feel of this, her final thoughts, how she's not really sure of anything, how she only thinks she can feel strong arms and tears, how the realisation of what's happening takes hold, how she wonders about heaven. Heartbreaking stuff. I miss Shannon...

:( I know - I miss her too. She had so much potential gone to waste, and at least she was written consistently unlike other female characters that keep getting shoved in our faces.

I won't get into that, though. LOL. Thanks, hun!

A strange, depressing, pseudo-incest mindmeld, though. ;) When Shannon died, I knew it was coming, but I was still horribly upset. Like...I hated her, then I loved her, and it was just like, why? I still miss her.

I feel awful because I haven't read anyone else's yet, but after my exam's early next week, I'll be clear until finals, so soon!
