Icon tut. You'd never have guessed.

I love it when I randomly figure out how to make things look pretty and then share them with the world.

As always, I use Photoshop 7, but this can be done in any Photoshop version. No clue about the other programs.

How to go from to in six easy steps!
It's really five steps because the first step is just picking your image.

Step 1OriginalStart out with a screencap. Mine I made myself and is from House 2x13 Skin Deep.
Step 2Crop it. Resize to 100x100. This is your base.
Step 3Duplicate your base and set it to Screen 100%.
Step 4Another duplication of the base at Screen 100%.
Step 5Duplicate the base again, set it to Soft Light 100%. Then go up to the Color Balance menu (Image > Adjustments if you don't know where that is), and set Cyan to -100. Sharpen once.
Step 6Duplicate the layer you just made, keep it on Soft Light, but now the opacity is dropping down to 20%. You can Sharpen again if you like, but otherwise, you're done.

Now wasn't that easy?

oo! shiny! the cyan adjustment is a neat touch; I'll keep that in mind. and, good luck with the animation!!

(p.s. Sex Kills is 2x14 :D)

Oops. LOL. Thanks. I fixed it. :P I think I was writing it going, "I should go watch Sex Kills - haven't watched it yet." Cap really came from Skin Deep.

Yeah I love the cyan adjustment when things are too red. I know another trick that makes skin look better - you make a new layer, set it to Soft Light like 50%, and then do Hue/Saturation with Hue at 180/-180 (same thing either way) and that also makes skin look more...flesh-colored.

aha, that's what I thought. --oo, have you really not watched it yet? go to!

thanks for the hint!

Hehe no I haven't watched it yet. I'm a recent inductee into the House fandom and have finally just caught up on seasons one and two as of...yesterday. I was gonna watch Sex Kills tonight but I've been working on a new header all night. -_-;; And after this I'll have had enough of masks for a loooong time.

haHA! same here actually with the recent inductee -- I just got fully caught up today. but I don't watch in a row, so. Sex Kills is great; you'll love it.

good luck with your header. masks are useful, but damn, after a while you get sick of seeing translucent red! bleh.

There were episodes I'd seen out of order but now I've actually seen everything in order so the little character developing segments make more sense.

I can't wait to watch Sex Kills. Photoshop stole me away, though, so alas, I must watch it tomorrow.

That's a good tutorial! Very simple and easy to follow. :)

:) Glad you thought so. I have a hard time with tuts that are 600 steps long - this one you could actually commit to memory.

thanks for sharing, I added to my memories! Also I love your header, the fusion of coldplay and lost! It's perfect!

*g* Thanks!

And Lost and Coldplay sooooo lend themselves well to each other. My first theme had a cast image and it said "Everything's Not Lost" across the bottom because I think I'm funny like that. :P The new header I'm working on now I'm trying to not incorporate Coldplay lyrics into, but I keep returning to "A Rush of Blood to the Head."

I love the "Everything's not Lost," with Lost! I think it's clever! I have Lyrics from Spies on my Logan header I have up. It's so easy to use Coldplay lyrics because they can work with so many things. Ahh, I love it! And Rush of Blood to the Head? Totally one of my favorite Coldplay songs. Don't fight the lyrics, it's awesome that you use their lyrics!

Finally got it done. Well...almost done. I still haven't made the matching icon yet. Ended up using "Swallowed in the Sea." The lyrics are just perfect.

Great timing on my behalf, then. Hope it works for what you're trying to do!
